The Items Our Editors Wore in New York That Got the Most Compliments

Between Editor in Chief Kat Collings, market editor Nicole Eshaghpour, editor Lauren Eggertsen, and me, we wore approximately 20 outfits to New York Fashion Week S/S 20. We were certainly grateful to have our home base for the week, Hotel Hugo in Soho (follow it here), close to all the NYFW action, so said outfits were kept intact. We’re not even going to attempt to count how many pieces we wore, but let’s just say that it’s probably well over 100.

As you’d guess, everyone spends a lot of time discussing what showgoers are wearing at fashion week, and with that comes a lot of compliments and “Where’d you get that?” questions between shows and parties. When you painstakingly choose your outfits for something like fashion week, it’s especially lovely when your peers have kind words, and those compliments stuck with us. With that, keep scrolling to find out (and shop!) the pieces that earned us editors the most compliments at New York Fashion Week this season.

This outfit felt very “Copenhagen fashion girl” to me. The pants are definitely the most comfortable thing I wore at NYFW, and while the green is sold out, the white version is available and is even more versatile. The Ganni top is clearly a statement maker, and my only regret is that I don’t have a photo of the very pretty back of it. On Allyson: Aritzia Macy Bucket Hat ($28) and Modern Utility Pants ($110); Ganni Silk Linen Top ($315); Reformation shoes

This outfit might be a little more Paris Fashion Week than New York Fashion Week, but I wore it anyway. I was a bit hesitant to wear all black, especially in early September, but the pearl detail was so special on this suit that I think it stood out. On Allyson: Sandro Blazer Jacket Embellished With Beads ($490) and Short Skirt Embellished With Beads ($280); Zara tank; Jacquemus bag; Wandler Isa Sandals in Black/White ($375); Krewe x Reformation Milan Sunglasses ($215)

I’ve been into suits lately, as you can see. They’re just so easy. And this cult-favorite Aritzia tank, Laura Lombardi chunky chain necklace, and Wandler mules via Hampden Clothing really took it up a notch. On Allyson: Ganni Prince of Wales Check Double-Breasted Blazer ($360) and Tailored Shorts ($190); Laura Lombardi Presa Chain ($165); Aritzia Sculpt Knit Tank ($58); Wandler Lotte Mules in Denim/Marine ($475)

This was actually on the last day of NYFW, at which point I was more-than-ready to get back into my beloved jeans. On Nicole: Monica Vinader Alta Capture Charm Necklace ($795); LPA Monroe Top ($168); Agolde Pinch Waist High Rise Kick Jeans ($178); Hayward bag; Chanel sandals

I had to stop myself from wearing this Staud bag every single day, because it just looked so good with all my outfits. It’s also worth mentioning that this Ganni outfit was probably my most-complemented item of the week.  On Nicole: Monica Vinader Alta Capture Charm Necklace ($795); Ganni Oversized Tiger-Print Denim Jacket ($415); Agolde Pinch Waist High Rise Kick Jeans ($178); Staud Rey Bag ($325); Chanel sandals

Love an all-black outfit, and this one felt very me, which I think is important when dressing for fashion week. On Nicole: Monica Vinader Alta Capture Charm Necklace ($795); Wesley Rivington Ribbed Tank ($65); Nanushka Amas Skirt ($395); Staud Leonardo Sandals ($275)

Great minds think alike! On the same day that Kat wore her Ciao Lucia outfit, I just happened to be wearing this bright pink Aritzia cardigan, which I decided to pair with an equally-loud, zebra-printed skirt. Not the safest choice, but I think it paid off?  On Nicole: Monica Vinader Alta Capture Charm Necklace ($795); Aritzia Alessia Cardigan ($138); Reformation Cady Skirt ($100); Hayward Mini 1712 Basket in Silver Mirror Coco Vegan Embossed Leather ($695); Manolo Blahnik Calla Mules ($775)

This isn’t technically a pajama set, but it’s so comfortable it could be!  On Nicole: Monica Vinader Alta Capture Charm Necklace ($795); De la Vali Kid Piped Tiger-Print Satin Shirt ($345) and Kid Belted Tiger-Print Satin Shorts ($345); Staud Rey Bag ($325); Manolo Blahnik Calla Mules ($775)

Shop the matching Kid Belted Tiger-Print Satin Shorts ($345).

On Lauren: Rhode Ella Dress ($395); Court & Rowe Stripe Crop Sweater ($99); Havva Texas Buckle Tall Boots ($695)

On Lauren: Bevza Olive Jacket ($626); With Jéan Bridgette Top ($129); Miaou Gaudi Skirt ($295)

On Lauren: Poms Nuovo Tortoiseshell & Blue Sunglasses ($300); Echo In the Cards Silk Square ($145); Rachel Comey Tristan Top ($295) and Cropped Divide Pants ($450); Danse Lente Johnny Mini Patent-Leather Bucket Bag ($430); Miista Carlota Boots ($360)

On Lauren: Bevza Olive Jacket ($626); With Jéan Bridgette Top ($129); Miaou Gaudi Skirt ($295); Yuzefi Dip Bag ($655)
