New enormous 65,000-point Southwest credit card offers
If you’ve been straddling the fence on applying for one of the personal Southwest credit cards, these new bonuses should make your decision a little easier.
All three Southwest personal cards now come with a sign-up bonus of 65,000 points after meeting (notably easy to achieve) minimum spending requirements. If you’re in the market for a Southwest Companion Pass, these bonuses are the best way to give yourself a head start — 65,000 points will get you more than 50% of the way to a Companion Pass!
The value of Southwest points generally hovers around 1.5 cents each toward Southwest flights. This means 65,000 Southwest points are worth roughly $975 in Southwest flights. You can travel to lots of fun destinations, including Hawaii, Aruba, Jamaica, Belize, Costa Rica and the Bahamas.
Chase Southwest credit card 65,000 point offers
When you apply for the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card, Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card, or Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card, you’ll earn 65,000 points after spending $2,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening. That’s one of the highest figures we’ve ever seen for these cards (though the bonus has previously been as high as 75,000 points).
This is by far the fastest way to earn Southwest points. These increased deals are extra enticing because they can help you to earn the holy grail of travel, the Southwest Companion Pass, more easily. With the Southwest Companion Pass, you can bring a friend or family member with you for just the cost of taxes and fees. It doesn’t matter if your flight is booked with points or paid for with cash – your companion flies with you for just the cost of taxes. That means your points are effectively worth twice as much.
One way to earn the Southwest Companion Pass is to earn 125,000 Southwest points in a calendar year. The quickest and simplest method to do this is by opening one personal card along with one of the two Southwest business cards:
- Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card — 60,000 Southwest points after spending $3,000 within the first three months
Southwest Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card — 100,000 bonus points after meeting tiered spending requirements:
- 70,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening
- 30,000 additional bonus points after spending $25,000 on purchases within the first six months of account opening
The information for the Southwest Rapid Rewards Performance Business card and Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business cards has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
Just remember, you can only hold one Southwest personal credit card at a time. If you’ve opened a Southwest card in the past and the account is still open, you won’t be eligible to open another Southwest personal card and these cards are subject to the Chase 5/24 rule, so if you’ve opened five or more cards from any bank in the past 24 months (except for certain business cards) you won’t be eligible for the Southwest credit card offers.
