Plus, the editors have included their curated shopping picks if you’re ready to start wearing them now. From practical (but stylish) boots to the color that will be huge to reinvented classics and more, these are the most important trends to know about. Here, see eight major fall 2019 fashion trends you’ll be spotting on insiders everywhere.

Come fall, there will be a return to bourgeois dressing marked by classic separates and sharp tailoring over trend-driven pieces—most notably seen at Hedi Slimane’s collection for Celine. — Kristen Nichols, managing editor

“The full leather look has been gaining popularity, and when temperatures start to drop in the fall, I guarantee it will be one of the biggest trends of the season. The best part is you don’t have to go full-tilt head-to-toe leather—start slow with separates first. Also, thanks to designers like Nanushka, vegan leather options have become more stylish than ever.” — Kat Collings, editor in chief

“There was lots of pale green (think mint and pistachio) on the fall runways, and it may just be the new slime green. I, for one, am looking forward to there being a color trend this time of year that isn’t stereotypically dark and moody. A lot of the runway looks were head-to-toe green (at Fendi and Marc Jacobs, for example), but I love how it was paired with black leather at Bottega Veneta.” — Allyson Payer, editor

“The fall runways were flooded with a look I’m calling ‘dark romance’—a mashup of feminine and grunge elements like the delicate lace dresses that models wore alongside with tough combat boots at Prada. I’ve always been a fan of combining opposing style types in a single outfit, so I’m over the moon to have one more reason to pair something sweet with something sour.” — Anna LaPlaca, assistant editor

“It’s easy to get swept away by all the glitz and glam of new trends, but sometimes it’s subtle updates to the classics people end up clinging to the most. This season, I saw designers showcasing trench coats like they never have before. Between Simone Rocha’s tulle-adorned version to JW Anderson’s practically Instagram famous check-lined one, I have a feeling we’re going to be seeing fresh trench coats aplenty come fall.” — Lauren Eggertsen, editor

“As someone who is a sucker for anything with crystals and, to put it simply, loves a party look, I was beyond thrilled to see that all things embellished were continuing to gain traction for FW/ 19. While I already own my fair share of pieces that can work for the trend, that won’t stop me from buying a handful more as we get closer to the upcoming season.” — Nicole Eshaghpour, market editor

“I saw a lot of scarf dresses at Copenhagen Fashion Week, including at Mark Kenly Domino Tan, Ganni, and By Malene Birger. The Danish capital is known for setting the trends, so I have no doubt we’ll see a lot of them this fall.” — Erin Fitzpatrick, senior news editor

“The biggest accessory trend that dominated the fall runways was, unquestionably, belts—cinched at the waist over blazers, quilted coats, dresses, and suits. From thin and narrow belts to wide statement belts, you can be sure all the fashion girls will be adding one to their outfit come fall.”  —Judith Jones, market editor
