5 Best Hotels in the Caribbean You Can Book With Hilton Points — Use the Hilton Card Limited-Time Offers

INSIDER SECRET: Hilton has gorgeous properties in the Caribbean, including all-inclusive resorts, where you can stay for (nearly) free with your hard earned Hilton points.

Believe it or not, now is a great time to start planning 2020 travel — including spring break trips or winter trips to escape to warmer weather. I love the beach and a relaxing, long weekend near the ocean sounds like just what the doctor ordered to avoid rain or snow that’s sure to come early next year.

And luckily, you can use points and miles to offset some of the cost of a luxurious trip to the Caribbean, including stays at Hilton hotels. Amex is currently offering increased welcome bonuses to help you supercharge your Hilton Honors account balances:

  • Hilton Honors Aspire Card from American Express — 150,000 Hilton points after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening

I’ll show you some of the best Hilton hotels in the Caribbean with points.

1. El San Juan Hotel, Puerto Rico

The lovely El San Juan Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton is located on Isla Verde beach not far from the San Juan airport. You might know that Puerto Rico has had an amazing recovery since the devastating Hurricane Maria a couple years back. While certain amazing hotels have yet to be fully restored, such as Hilton’s El Conquistador, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, others are back in full force and even boasting record high profits. Fantastic!

The pristine beach and high-class service help this hotel top the list and guests consistently rave about being just steps from the ocean as part of their glowing TripAdvisor reviews.

Rates at the El San Juan aren’t cheap, typically starting upwards of ~$400 depending on when you visit. That’s why I recommend redeeming 70,000 Hilton points per night for a standard room reward.

2. Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort and Casino

The Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort and Casino presents another obvious choice when looking for luxurious hotels in the Caribbean you can book with Hilton points. This hotel is strategically located on Palm Beach and offers relaxation and lovely views right outside your doorstep. Guests also appreciated the world-class spa and gave this hotel a well-deserved 4.5-star rating on TripAdvisor.

Rates in April start as high as ~$550 per night (ouch!), but can be had instead for just 80,000 Hilton Honors points. This would also be a great option for redeeming free weekend night certificate that you’ve earned with the Amex Hilton Surpass Card or Amex Hilton Aspire Card.

My wife and I visited Aruba back in 2015 and had a great weekend relaxing and exploring the various beaches the island has to offer. We unfortunately didn’t stay at the Hilton Aruba, but Palm Beach was our overall favorite! If we go back for some relaxing beach time, the Hilton Aruba is on our list.

3. Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa, Jamaica (All-Inclusive)

I should start by saying that all-inclusive hotels just aren’t for me. But for some travelers, arriving at an all-inclusive marks the beginning of a perfect, stress-free trip. Forget about the food and drink budget and indulge, relax and unwind at the pool or beach on a gorgeous Caribbean island!

If that’s your fancy, look no further than the Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa in Jamaica, one of few Hilton all-inclusive hotels worldwide. This hotel in Montego Bay receives great TripAdvisor reviews from guests with families, especially because of the onsite water park. Folks also enjoyed the food (for the most part) and the lovely cabanas on the beach.

Instead of paying the list price of ~$400 per night, you can book this all-inclusive hotel with points for just 70,000 points per night. This is an excellent value considering food, drinks and activities are included.

4. Hilton Barbados

The Hilton Barbados isn’t the most luxurious hotel on this list, but the prices might fool you. A single night stay next March prices out above $500 for two adults (before taxes and fees), making this an expensive option for anyone looking to visit Barbados. That’s why redeeming just 70,000 Hilton points per night can be such a great deal.

This hotel is well liked by families with kids and has lots of options to keep everyone entertained. The Hilton Barbados is situated in a protected cove so that kids can enjoy the calmer waves and avoid the large swells that Barbados is known for.

Guests also rave about the friendly staff, open-air facilities and strategic location close to shops and dining outlets. Or, just hang out all day by the picturesque infinity pool or take advantage of the on-site dive shop to experience the ocean on another whole level.

5. Conrad Cartagena

The Conrad Cartagena is the farthest south of any of our favorite Hilton hotels in the Caribbean. This gorgeous hotel is the only Conrad on the list and thus presents possibly the most luxurious option. Each room has a private balcony and beautiful views over the resort, pool, or ocean.

Although rates here are sometimes affordable, they can often get into the $300+ range, making the award option of just 50,000 Hilton points per night a fantastic value. This hotel also gets rave TripAdvisor reviews for things like gorgeous views from the infinity pool and high-class treatment throughout.

Although this hotel isn’t located immediately in (or near) the walled city of Cartagena, there’s a dedicated taxi queue and even a free shuttle that will take guests back and forth. Otherwise, you can enjoy the resort’s fantastic on-site restaurants or beach and simply relax away from Cartagena’s downtown hustle and bustle.

Bottom Line

I’m already scheming a 2020 trip to the Caribbean, but I’m not quite sure yet where. These five hotels are compelling options for nice, luxurious resorts that won’t break the bank because you can redeem points to stay there.

If you’re need to top up your Hilton account, it’s a great time to apply for the increased offers on the Hilton Amex cards:

  • Hilton Honors Aspire Card from American Express — 150,000 Hilton points after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening
